Wild Re-Sign Defenseman Nick Schultz
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed defenseman Nick Schultz to a 2007-08 contract.
“Nick’s continued improvement and durability make him the consummate team player,” Risebrough said. “He’s established himself as an important presence on our blue line, and we’re very happy that we could reach a contract agreement.” Schultz, 24 (8/5/82), collected 12 points (2-10=12) and 42 penalty minutes (PIM) and became the first Wild defenseman in franchise history to appear in all 82 games in 2006-07. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound blueliner led the team in blocked shots (141) and ranked third in hits (88) while averaging 20:13 in ice time. He added one assist in five playoff contests. Schultz has recorded 62 points (17-45=62) and 138 PIM in 367 career NHL games in five seasons with Minnesota. The native of Strasbourg, Saskatchewan ranks third in Wild franchise history with a plus/minus rating of +25. Schultz was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. |

****ing great. Nicky became a cornerstone on the blue line last year. I hope the Wild lock him up long term, because he is going to be good for years to come.

Couldn't agree more. If anything, I wish he'd play with a little bigger burr in his saddle.
