Wild Re-Sign Defenseman Eric Reitz

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed defenseman Eric Reitz (pronounced REETZ) to a 2008-09 contract.

Reitz, 25 (7/29/82), posted 34 points (8-26=34) including five power play goals and 99 penalty minutes (PIM) in 49 games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2007-08. He ranked fourth on the team in scoring despite missing 31 games due to injury, finished second among Aeros defensemen with a plus-11 rating and was named a starter for the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team. Reitz appeared in Game Five and Game Six of the Wild’s Western Conference Quarterfinal series against the Colorado Avalanche and skated in three Calder Cup Playoff games with Houston. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound native of Detroit, Mich., has played six career games with the Wild, accruing four PIM.

He was Minnesota’s sixth-round selection (170th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Reitz made his NHL debut with the Wild on April 7, 2006, at Calgary.

Reitz is going to be a starter next year... or at least should be.

There were a lot of rumors( also by newspapers and officials) that many teams in Germany want him.

too bad for germany,
good for the aeros or minnesota that he resigned .-

He is a Defender who can drop them.

i think he would have been guaranteed one, til they picked up bergeron. played good in houston when healthy. maybe they'll trade your other buddy skoula to make a spot for him every night.

I can only dream of them shipping Skoula away for anything useful, like a drinking fountain. But, the reality is that Lemaire has a hard on for him, for some damn reason.

Foster still isn't healthy, and isn't expected back until after the new year (I know, a long ****ing time). So Bergeron is taking his place.

With Hill and Carney departing, there's plenty of spots open for Eric to step in, so he should have a spot coming out of camp.

Schultz - Bergeron
Burns - Johnsson
Skoula - Reitz

What you can expect from Wild camp, this up coming preseason.
