This one doesn't make a lot of sense to me. He had an awful year last year, but he looked much better in the preseason this year then at any point during the 10-11 season. Is this just to make room for Nick Johnson? Hopefully Staubitz is next to hit the waiver wire here in Minny!

That is definitely a thought, but every indication I've gotten is that Kassian has been almost a lock to make this team this year, so I would think that his spot on the fourth line/occassional scratch would have been factored in to the lineup. So if that is true I wonder who beat out Nystrom? Does Powe make him expendable? Or do they plan on keeping Bulmer up, and not sending him back to juniors?
Or am I just reading too much in to this, and they feel his play is not worth the 1.4 million?

Makes very little sense to me, reasons why:
The 4th line was all but set already, Gillies - Nystrom - Staubitz Extra forward: Matt Kassian Scratch Kassian out of there for the next couple weeks with an injury, and Staubitz with a suspension, and that paved the way for junior Brett Bulmer, who has been fantastic to watch so far. Unless Yeo is putting trust in perennial call up flop, Cody Almond, this is a head scratcher. Even more so in that Kassian and other defenseman are on two ways. The only thing I can see is Gillies being moved to center with Kassian or Bulmer seeing regular time - opposite Staubitz on the other wing. But, with suspensions and injuries...?

I hope they have an ace up their sleeve because this doesn't make much sense right up front. Hope there is a bigger picture they can see.

I'm glad in a way. Nystrom works hard but has zero scoring touch and adds zero/to very little toughness. I would rather see what Brett Bulmer, it can't be any better or worse than what Nystrom has done in the past.

Ummmmmmm wtf? Though I really like this Bulmer kid. I hope a weak team picks him up. Maybe Wings or TB
