Wild Acquire Chris Simon
Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired left wing Chris Simon from the New York Islanders in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Simon, 36 (1/30/72), has recorded three points (1-2=3) and 43 penalty minutes in 28 games for the Islanders this season. The 6-foot-3, 232-pound native of Wawa, Ont., is in his 15th NHL season, totaling 305 points (144-161=305) and 1,808 penalty minutes in 772 games with Quebec, Colorado, Washington, Chicago, Calgary, the New York Rangers and Islanders. He posted career-highs in goals (29), assists (20) and points (49) in 1999-2000 for Washington. Simon, who won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in 1996, was Philadelphia’s second-round pick (No. 25 overall) in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. |

It doesnt look like Boogaard is coming back this year.
I dont know who are they going to scratch for him now? |
wow that was cheap man Minnesota is getting tough with Fedoruk and Boogie
|
wow, are boogy's days numbered ?
|
Wild get even tougher! Should be fun to watch.
|
This should make tomorrow's game pretty great.
I guess we know where Boogaard will be for the rest of the season.... or does this push Fridge out of the lineup? |
Holy ****! I said something like this a while ago about having Simon and Boogaard! **** me in the ear!
Great move Dougy!!!!! |
Did Jkidd just pass out? ;)
|
Does this mean Boogaard is being traded or he's done for the year?
|
If Boogaard gets healthy and they actually decide to use all three... that's scary.
|
Damn the tough get tougher......

I'll bet anything that this makes Boogy's decision easier to rest his back for 08-09. If he's smart he'll watch from the press box...
I hope they send down or waive one of the pansy extras. |
I see this two ways....
Yes, the Wild look scary now - on paper. But what I see now is a super-heavyweight with a wonky back, a light heavyweight with a history of concussions, and an aging HW with bad shoulders and a serious anger management problem. I'm not sure how effective all this is going to be, but the Wild did get some serious depth in the toughness department. |
