Troy Bodie Signs With Anaheim; Placed on Waivers

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed right wing Troy Bodie to a one-year contract. Bodie is expected to report to Syracuse, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), today.

Bodie, 26 (1/25/85), appeared in four preseason contests with the Winnipeg Jets as a pro tryout, scoring one goal (1-0=1) with 14 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +3 rating. The 6-4, 213-pound winger appeared in a career-high 59 NHL contests with Anaheim and Carolina in 2010-11, scoring 1-3=4 points with 61 PIM. Bodie began last season with the Ducks before being claimed on waivers by the Hurricanes on Nov. 16, 2010. He made his NHL debut with Anaheim on Jan. 16, 2009 at Pittsburgh and scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 17, 2010 vs. Calgary as part of a career-high two-game goal streak (2-0=2, Jan. 17-19, 2010). In 107 career NHL games, Bodie has scored 6-5=11 points with 141 PIM.

Selected by Edmonton in the ninth round (278th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Bodie was originally signed by Anaheim as a free agent on July 22, 2008. He has appeared in 185 career AHL contests, notching 32-24=56 points with 298 PIM. The Portage la Prairie, Manitoba native scored his first professional hat trick on Dec. 19, 2009 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a 4-3 Toronto (AHL) win. Bodie advanced to three consecutive Memorial Cup tournaments from 2003-05 with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL), winning the championship with the club in 2004.

Sweet, I hope he clears.

Murray was pretty quick to respond to the lack of toughness for Syracuse following McGrattan being claimed.

I was hoping the Ducks would give The Fridge a call, he could of done a job and looked out for the youngsters in the AHL, but saying that i'm also glad Bodie has a job, not the best of fighters but the man has guts.

I wont if Koci was called? Good point about Fridge. i bet he would take an AHL job, probably 105k a year? thats good money. i dont think he wants to risk fighting in the AHL though.

Yeah you have a point, but i still think he is a good enough player to play in the Ahl, good physical player. He would make a good middlweight i suppose.

Or even Europe? I just want to see him back playing hockey, he has obvisouly worked hard to silence he's demons.
