Atlanta, GA -- The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled forward Jason Krog from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, and have placed defenseman Steve McCarthy on injured reserve (upper-body injury), retroactive to Nov. 9, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. The Thrashers active roster now stands at 23, including 13 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders, with two players on Injured Reserve.
Krog, who was signed by the Thrashers as a free agent on July 4, 2006, has appeared in 18 games for the Wolves this season and leads the AHL in points (39) and assists (24) and ranks third in the league in goals (15). The 31-year-old center spent the 2005-06 season with Servette Geneve of the Swiss National League and Vasta Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League. He led Servette Geneve in goals (14) and placed second on the club in points (28) despite playing in only 29 games. Krog has earned 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in 175 NHL games with the New York Islanders and Anaheim Ducks. The 5-11, 190-pound native of Fernie, British Columbia recorded career highs in goals (10), assists (15) and points (25) with Anaheim in 2002-03 and helped lead the club to the Stanley Cup Finals, notching four points (three goals, one assist) in 21 playoff games. Prior to turning professional, Krog spent four seasons at the University of New Hampshire, notching 238 points (94 goals, 144 assists) in 152 games from 1995-99. Krog was selected as the winner of the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey’s MVP in 1999.
