Thrashers Recall Boris Valabik
The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman Boris Valabik (vah-LAH-bihk) from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President, General Manager and Head Coach Don Waddell.
Valabik, 22, has recorded eight points (one goal, seven assists), and leads the Wolves with 191 penalty minutes and a plus-23 rating in 54 games this season. He ranks fourth in the AHL in plus/minus rating and is 10th in the league in penalty minutes. The 6-7, 240-pound defenseman has posted a plus- or even-rating in 44 of 54 contests this season. The Nitra, Slovakia native has appeared in 104 career games over two seasons with Chicago, posting 17 points (three goals, 14 assists), along with 375 penalty minutes and a plus-35 rating. Prior to his professional career, Valabik played four seasons of junior hockey with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League, recording 29 points (four goals, 25 assists) and 725 penalty minutes in 163 games. He earned more than 200 minutes in penalties in each of his four OHL seasons. Valabik has represented Slovakia in international competition on three occasions, including the 2005 and 2006 World Junior Championships and the 2004 World Under-18 Championships. Valabik was selected by the Thrashers in the first round, 10th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Last edited by Thrillhouse; 03-18-2008 at 09:52 AM. Reason: Article added |

These are some great news. Thrashers are almost out of the playoffs spot, so why do not dress some energetic guys to entertain at least some team fans?
First and I guess last good move by Waddell.

191 PIM's, he must be doing something out there. Stevens must play Cote, when a team really starts to slide sometimes they look for a spark in a Tolpeko or someone.

I can see valabik trying to avoid Cote all night long.. Valabik is strong and can beat Cote.. but he barely fights heavys and is spot picking so much that it hurts.. |
