Thrashers Recall Abid from Wolves; Place Holik and Larsen on IR

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled forward Ramzi Abid from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League and placed forwards Bobby Holik (foot) and Brad Larsen (groin) on injured reserve, both retroactive to the date of their injuries, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. The team’s active roster now stands at 22, with an additional four players on Injured Reserve.

Abid, 25, leads the Wolves with 17 goals, 15 assists and 32 points in 32 games. The 6-2, 215-pound left wing also leads the squad with nine power-play goals and three game-winning tallies. The native of Montreal, Quebec, who signed with the Thrashers as a free agent on Aug. 8, 2005, has earned 23 points (13 goals, 10 assists) in 49 NHL games with Phoenix and Pittsburgh.

Holik, 35, suffered a broken foot during the Thrashers 5-2 win on Jan. 1 at Washington, and has missed the past two games. In 40 games with the Thrashers this season, he has recorded seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. Signed by Atlanta as a free agent on Aug. 2, 2005, Holik has appeared in 1,064 NHL games with Atlanta , the New York Rangers and New Jersey, recording 288 goals and 370 assists for 658 points.

Larsen, 28, has missed the last eight games since injuring his groin against Florida on Dec. 17. He has recorded two goals and three assists in 26 games with the Thrashers and one goal in five games with Chicago (AHL) this season. Larsen has appeared in 124 NHL games with Colorado and Atlanta, recording six goals and 15 assists.
