Thrashers Re-Sign Joey Crabb and Nathan Oystrick
The Atlanta Thrashers have re-signed forward Joey Crabb and defenseman Nathan Oystrick, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Crabb, 26, who split time between Atlanta and the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League last season, registered nine points (four goals, five assists) in 29 games with the Thrashers. He made his NHL debut on Nov. 28 vs. Nashville and scored his first career NHL goal on Dec. 10 vs. the N.Y. Rangers. The 6-1, 195-pound right wing also posted 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists) in 42 games with the Wolves in 2008-09. The native of Anchorage, Alaska, has tallied 86 points (31 goals, 55 assists) in 177 career AHL games with the Chicago. Crabb has also appeared in 30 Calder Cup Playoff games, earning five points (one goal, four assists) and helping Chicago to the 2008 Calder Cup Championship. Prior to his professional career, Crabb recorded 110 points (53 goals, 57 assists) in 159 games over four seasons with Colorado College from 2002-06. Originally selected by the N.Y. Rangers in the seventh round, 226th overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Crabb signed with the Thrashers as a free agent on Aug. 31, 2006. Oystrick, 26, recorded 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 53 games during his rookie season with the Thrashers last season. The 6-0, 210-pound defenseman made his NHL debut on Oct. 14 vs. Minnesota and collected his first NHL point (assist) on Nov. 25 vs. Toronto. The Regina, Sask., native has posted 90 points (30 goals, 60 assists) in 162 career AHL games with the Wolves. Oystrick has earned 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 39 Calder Cup Playoff games, and was also a member of Chicago’s 2008 Calder Cup Championship team. Prior to his professional career, Oystrick appeared in 151 games with Northern Michigan University, recording 89 points (26 goals, 63 assists) from 2002-06. He was originally selected by the Thrashers in the seventh round, 198th overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. |
