Thrashers Re-Sign Forward Marty Reasoner
The Atlanta Thrashers have resigned forward Marty Reasoner to a multiple-year contract, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell.
Reasoner, 32, appeared in 79 games for the Thrashers last season, recording 30 points (14 goals, 16 assists). His 14 goals marked a career-best for the 10-year veteran. He ranked seventh on the team in points and goals, and was ninth in assists. Reasoner appeared in his 500th NHL game on Dec. 26 vs. Carolina and earned his 200th career point with the game-winning overtime goal on March 12 at Edmonton. He was honored with the 2009 Thrashers Players’ Player Award, as voted on by his teammates, given annually to the Thrasher who best exemplifies what being a “team player” is all about. The 6-1, 205-pound center has earned 206 points (78 goals, 128 assists) in 544 career games with St. Louis, Edmonton, Boston and Atlanta. He has also appeared in 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games with St. Louis and Edmonton, posting eight points (six goals, two assists). The native of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., has played for the United States in International competition on five occasions including the 1995 and 1996 World Junior Championship and the World Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2006. Reasoner, who was originally selected by St. Louis in the first round (14th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, signed with the Thrashers as a free agent on July 17, 2008. |

14 goals for a 3rd/4th liner that doesnt see the power play is a good amount. he isnt asked to score, just to shut down the opponents top line as best as possible. i would love to have him here in chicago on the hawks.

big difference between reasoner and staal though, so they can't be compared at all. for staal it isn't impressive because of the money he makes and the TOI he plays including the power play. reasoner doesn't see half that on a nightly basis, so his numbers are somewhat impressive.

And I could just swear I saw him playing on the second line more than once last season. I could be wrong, but Im almost positive I saw it a few times.

There was a few games this season where it was Kovy-Reasoner-Thorburn line. They actually did pretty well until Rich Peverly joined the club who took over the top line duties with Army and Kovy.
The Thrashers if I'm not mistaken led the league in Shorthanded goals after the New Years.
