Thrashers Place J.P. Vigier on IR; Recall Darren Haydar from Chicago
Atlanta, GA -- The Atlanta Thrashers have placed forward J.P. Vigier on Injured Reserve (groin) and recalled forward Darren Haydar from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. The Thrashers active roster now stands at 23, including 13 forwards, eight defenseman and two goaltenders, with one player on IR.
Vigier, who injured his groin against the New York Islanders on Feb. 1, has appeared in 53 games with Atlanta this season, collecting 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and 25 penalty minutes. Haydar has played in 49 games for the Chicago Wolves (AHL) this season and leads the league with 89 points and 59 assists. He also ranks third in the league in goals (30) and appeared in the 2007 AHL All-Star Game. The 27-year-old right wing recorded points in the first 39 games of the season, the longest scoring streak in AHL history. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Haydar was recalled by the Thrashers on Jan. 1, but did not appear in a game. The fifth-year pro has appeared in two career National Hockey League games, both with Nashville during the 2002-03 season.

seriously he destroyed Colin White with a hit the other night. and has had the glare going pretty good of late...bad news indeed..
this might be good news for Boulton as he should at some point get back into the lineup..Haydar is insurance. Bit of a playoff run... not sure BH will insert the youngster. |

He hasn't played since the 02-03 season with Nashville. Bob Probert smoked him into the boards and Haydar recieved a concussion, hasn't played an NHL game since until last night! He's the best player in the AHL and at 5'9, this gives Eric Boulton a reason to enforce. Let's see if he plays against Buffalo on Tuesday, should be a fast paced game which is right up his ally.

Boulton was still a scratch. I don't think Hartley even cares anymore if a team has an Enforcer IN or not. The Flyers have nothing to lose and have Fedoruk and Eager in, and both seemed to be on the ice a lot last night. Of course the first two periods...Atlanta wa much more physical until the wheels fell off. The morning paper says Vigier will be back soon, so Haydar will get the shaft, unless someone realizes Larsen does NOTHING, and benches him. I've given up on Boulton. Hartley isn't going to play him, and when he does, Boulton gets a minute of ice time. I'm waiting on Desbiens to make the jump, and be our player/fighter rugged 4th line muscle. Doubtful...but it's my only hope. Right now..Jon Sim is our toughest player along with an ancient Mellanby. Those two seem like the only canidates for a fight to happen. Exelby and Sutton have that whole "smart" approach going - they will not fight unless it will not hurt the team, and by both being off the ice - it hurts the team. So there's the answer to that.. |

Sim won't fight. Period. I watched him start a ton of sh1t when he was a Phantom but as hard as he works to stir things up, he works just as hard to avoid answering the bell. He's a classic agitator. Plus he can really put it in the net, as streaky as he is. I enjoyed watching him.

In other words...we have a lot of guys 'capable' of dropping the gloves, but I don't see many that will. Shane Hnidy was a fighter when he broke into the league, now he is a good d man, who doesn't drop the gloves or go looking for it..just like De Vries , Sutton and Exelby. It's frustrating to have a tough team, that doesn't always express that fact. |

If Haydar plays tonight, I'll be convinced he's being showcased.
ie: The Forsberg rumours?

I suppose it's too much to ask for another Boulton vs. Peters bout tonight. Their fight last season was dismal, and I'm sure Bolts would like to redeem himself after eating Orr's right hand.
Of course that would mean Hartley growing a sac. Nevermind then.

And especially since Haydar had a decent game. |
