Thrashers Agree to Terms With Ken Klee

The Atlanta Thrashers have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Ken Klee on a multi-year contract, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell.

Klee, 35, has appeared in 791 NHL games over 12 seasons with Washington, Toronto, New Jersey and Colorado, recording 174 points (53 goals, 121 assists) and 792 penalty minutes. He has also played in 51 NHL playoff games, recording four points (two goals, two assists).

The 6-0, 210-pound defenseman spent last season with Colorado, appearing in 81 games and recording 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) for the Avalanche while leading the team with a plus-18 rating. Klee also ranked third on the team in average ice time per game (20:37) and ranked third among team defensemen in points and assists.

Originally selected by the Capitals in the ninth round, 177th overall, of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, Klee played three seasons of college hockey for Bowling Green of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. In 86 games with the Falcons, he tallied 41 points (seven goals, 34 assists). Following his college career, Klee helped the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League capture the 2004 Calder Cup Championship.

A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Klee has represented the United States in several international competitions, including the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 1992 and 1997 World Championships.

Good for Klee. Not that I wanted him on the Island, but who the hell is even left on the market on the blueline besides Souray?
