I certainly would not call him a "bottom of the barrel" goaltender. The guy is 24 years old and just making his mark as a starter. This was the first year he played as no 1 goalie and he went to the final after outplaying Brodeur and Miller. You can credit the team in front all you want, but Ray put up some great performances.
Don't forget, in '02 he won the Goaltender of the Year in the OHL and CHL and in '03 was named the goaltender for the AHL Rookie team. He was as good as Ryan Miller coming up. Give him time, he'll be a great Goalie.
I am pretty confident he will sign with Ottawa for a few more years and continue to develop his skills. Now that his wrist is repaired, he will onl be better. The Sens need to get rid of Gerber and make Ray a decent offer. Too bad, they can't just switch pay cheques.
