Tampa Bay Signs Adam Hall

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent right wing Adam Hall to a three-year contract today, owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie announced today.

“Adam bring us versatility as a defensive player and he is a character guy who will help us get back into the playoffs,” said Koules and Barrie in making the announcement. “He was very impressive this past postseason and we think he brings some intangibles that every team needs to be successful.”

Hall, a 6-foot-3, 206-pound native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, has recorded 51 goals and 108 points in 352 career games with Nashville, the New York Rangers, Minnesota and Pittsburgh. He played 17 games during Pittsburgh’s run to the Stanley Cup Finals this past season, recording three goals, one assist and eight penalty minutes.

Drafted in the second round - 52nd overall - by Nashville in 1999, Hall, 27, recorded 16 goals and 28 points as a rookie with the Predators in 2002-03. He managed 27 goals and 56 points in the next two seasons in Nashville before splitting 2006-07 between the Rangers and Minnesota. Pittsburgh signed him as a free agent prior to last season, and he recorded two goals and six points in 46 games during the regular season. In 31 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with Nashville, Minnesota and Pittsburgh, Hall has recorded six goals, eight points and 17 penalty minutes.

Hall captained the U.S. National Team Developmental Program’s U-18 team in 1997-98 before embarking on a four-year career at Michigan State. With the Spartans he recorded 64 goals and 126 points in 159 career games, and he served as captain his senior season. Hall was named to the CCHA All-Tournament Team (2000-01), the All-CCHA Second Team (1999-00) and the CCHA All-Rookie Team (1998-99).

Hall has represented Team USA in international competition on several occasions, including the 1999 and 2000 World Junior Championships and the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 World Championships.

Is it me or does it seem as though Tampa Bay has signed like 40 players already?

Pesonally, he's not my favorite person in the world, but it's a good signing as a depth center. And more size going to Pittsburgh South. At least the team intros won't take that long.

Good signing for a 4th liner... does this mean Gratton and Tarnasky might not be back? I don't really know TB's situation

I am not sure about this guy. Had a couple good seasons with the Preds, and after he bounced around his game/potential dropped considerably.

He provides cheap depth, but not much else. I wouldn't be thrilled with this move.

this is a brand new team, you'd be surprised what a major shake up does to a player with solid potential

With all the talk about toughness I would be shocked if this team entered the season without an enforcer. At the very least I would guess they'll bring Roy back. That being said, they're running out of roster spots. This has me a little worried in terms of whether they plan on bringing Gratton back. Also, I thought I had heard that Artukhin was returning this season as well (can't confirm that though).

Honestly....and i'm dead serious when I say this..... I actually wish this club would've stopped a few signings back. At the current moment our lineup is about as bombarded as anyone could have ever predicted. Where this leaves Arty, Tarnasky, Quellete, and most importantly, Andre Roy, is anyone's guess.

This fuk will get bought-out in a season or two. Blah.

Hell, half our club from last season will either be UFA or in the American Hockey League.
