Steve Ott to miss 8 weeks with broken ankle
The Stars also suffered a disappointing loss - winger Steve Ott was injured in a second period fight and faces a long recovery period.

"Steve will miss eight weeks due to a fractured ankle," Stars coach Dave Tippett announced after the game. "We have guys that are itching to get in the lineup so we won't make a move at this time. Steve will be sorely missed because he has done a good job at the little things and it's tough to see that happen to him."

Ott will likely undergo surgery Monday morning.

If they're not retiring à la Doull, they're getting injured; Fridge last night now Ott. Bettman must be happier than a pig in sh*t.

Stars probably will just play Stefan now instead of calling up or signing a fighter.

I know it seems like a stupid question, but would they bring up Barch, or sign Kip Brennan?

This case is different. Fedoruk gets hurt, but they bring up a fighter in Shawn Thornton who gets into a fight in his 1st game against Low.

Dallas on the other hand most likely Dallas won't replace Ott with a fighter.

Well, unlike Anaheim, Dallas never had a heavyweight to handle the big guys. So Barnaby/Daley/Morrow will be called upon to drop em.

Poor Otter. He means a lot more to the team with the hits and agitation that the Stars probably realize. It will be interesting to see if they start to come down in the standings as a result.

I don't see Dallas replacing him in their lineup with the other middleweights they have.

I doubt they will sign an enforcer. They already have Barnaby & besides Ott is not a pure enforcer. I think they will call up Joel Lundqvist or Louie Eriksson.

Don't forget that Norton and Hordichuk is also out.
But when Fedoruk was injured, they called up a guy more than willing to fight in Shawn Thornton. I'm really happy to see them do this!
