Surprising but also not so surprising...a couple years back I thought he was going to win the lottery and be the RW on the Sedin line & score 30-40 goals a year but he failed to deliver.

Here we go...I just wrote it some days ago in the thread after his fight with Hamonic..."I wonder how long he'll still be in the NHL"...he is useless and a waste of size.

He had 16 one year.

A guy that never really lived up to what you would want from a guy of his size. Never really took the next step to being a good power forward, from being a decent one.

Guy has a ton of talent, but is one of the laziest players I've ever seen.

Why would anyone take a chance, he's making 2 mil and he's barely worth half that.

If teams wanted lazy players with talent, they would claim Zherdev,

Imagine the pair in San Jose if Bernier had the work ethic of Ryane Clowe and didn't leave the club... that'd be one hell of a power forward duo.

Actually the trade itself might make Tallon look pretty smart. Ballard for Grabner alone is a good trade for the Panthers.
But, Tallon 5hit the bed by waiving the best player in the trade. That might be one of the stupidest things any GM has done in recent NHL history.

As for Bernier, I never questioned his commitment or work ethic. I think he gave it his best shot, but he just isn't as good, or talented as we thought.
Pylons put up numbers beside the Sedins, and Bernier could not. I think his San Jose rookie season was an aberration and made us think there was something there.

Still, as a 4th liner making less than a million, I'd take him back. But, at 2 mill per, he's an untouchable.

I agree peace. Damn, the Canucks even put him on a diet/nutrition plan and when he dropped weight last summer and supposedly worked hard to get faster, he still couldn't put up any numbers. If anything he got worse - each successive season has seen his overall play and numbers drop steadily since he first came on the NHL scene.

Waivers seemed like a forgone conclusion based on yet another disappointing season, but at that pricetag, no one will be touching him.
