Stars Sign Taylor Peters to Entry-Level Contact

The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed forward Taylor Peters to a three-year entry level contract, beginning with the 2013-14 season. Peters will remain with his current club, the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL), for the rest of the 2012-13 campaign.

Peters, 21, has skated for the Winterhawks in each of the last six seasons, collecting 111 points (43G-68A) in 313 games. This year, the 6-foot-3, 207-pound forward has earned 37 points (13G-24A), 46 penalty minutes and a plus-24 rating in 62 games for the club. He helped lead his team to WHL Final appearances the last two years and ranks 11th all-time for the Winterhawks in playoff games played (45). In 2011-12, Peters won the team's Best Defensive Player Award and was also named a co-Scholastic Player of the Year.

"Taylor Peters brings size, good faceoff ability, strong defensive awareness and adds to our organizational depth down the middle," said Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "We look forward to watching him develop with the Texas Stars next year."
