Stars Ship Krys Barch to Florida
Frisco, TX – The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has traded right wing Krys Barch and Dallas' sixth-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for left wing Jake Hauswirth and Florida's fifth-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Oh snap! Now I really hope the Florida Panthers win the Southeast this year!
Plus, I think Dineen will actually use him too!

The Panthers needed someone who can serve as an enforcer--at least on a part-time basis. Teams had been starting to run some of Florida's top players, so GM Dean Tallon decided to quickly resolve the situation. Barch is a true gamer but not a heavyweight.
The Stars weren't playing Barch much so far this season, as new coach Glen Gulutzan is more into the 'team toughness' approach. Barch was one of former coach Marc Crawford's favorite players, so it's not surprising he was fazed out this season. The Stars get a mild draft pick upgrade here. |

The Panthers have been off to a surprisingly strong start to the season, but they definitely could use some more grit in their lineup. I like the acquisition of Barch for Florida.
I also really hope this opens a door for Eric Godard in Dallas, but with the scarcity of other top-tier fighters league-wide, I'm not counting on that happening unfortunately.
