Stars Recall Krys Barch From Iowa

FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled right wing Krys Barch from the Iowa Stars, Dallas’ development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Barch, 26, has played in three games with Dallas after being recalled originally on Jan. 14, making his NHL debut on Jan. 15 vs. Los Angeles. He has also appeared in 31 games with Iowa this season, posting eight points (3-5-8) with a team-leading 110 penalty minutes. Signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 18, 2006, he has appeared in 224 career AHL games over parts of seven seasons, tallying 25 goals and 41 assists for 66 points with 444 penalty minutes.

The Stars (29-18-1) will resume their regular season play with the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow night at American Airlines Center (7:30 p.m. – FSN).

Looks like they'll keep him around until Barnaby returns. After the Pens they play Anaheim, the Sharks back to back, and the Blues, so he should be able to find several willing combatants.

This is good, I like Barnaby but I hope he is out longer cuz I want to see Brach fight a couple of times. He has Thornton/O'Brien and anyone else on Anaheim to take on. He also has Clowe and Davsion so he needs to fight at least once for Dallas before Matt comes back.

I'm happy for two reasons...

1. Dallas now has a good 1-2 punch, again.

2. Merlin didnt get him in the PIM league - I did!

6'0-6'1 about 210'ish at the most, and will fight just about anything that moves.

Very good news, I was beginning to think Barch would stay in Iowa now that Ott has been called up. Looking forward to watching these two on the ice at the same time!

The funny thing is fighting was never his forte in the juniors, I don't think it was anyway. He was drafted by the Caps and he was just a regular grinder (kind of like a Chad Wiseman type). And then suddenly he's literally fighting to make a name for himself in the minors. Weird.
