Stars' Neal Suspended Two Games
Dallas Stars left wing James Neal was suspended two games by the NHL on Friday for a hit from behind on Columbus Blue Jackets right wing Derek Dorsett at 13:01 of the second period of Thursday's game.

Dorsett was among a group of players battling along the wall for the puck when Neal came charging in. Neal appeared to leave his feet to deliver a blow to Blue Jackets defenseman Marc Methot, but instead he hit Dorsett in the back. The force of the blow drove Dorsett face-first into the glass. He fell to the ice and could not get up.

Neal was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game-misconduct.

The second-year forward leads the Stars with 11 goals and 22 points, but he'll now have to sit out home games Saturday and Monday against New Jersey and Carolina, respectively.

I think most people saw this one coming. Not the most vicious hit but it's hard to argue with what happened to Dorsett because of it...

Agreed. Hopefully Dorsett's back qick. Anyone heard any news on how he's doing?

He wouldnt fight Dorsett at the beginning of the game, that's what part of the problem was. He wont ever fight Dorsett.

2 games is right. The hit was bad, but the reaction from Dorsett was even worse.

This seems about right. The hit wasn't THAT bad compared to a lot of others, but because of the injury sustained by Dorsett, the league was obviously going to hand out further discipline. Given that Neal doesn't have much of a history of this sort of thing, 2 games seems appropriate.

Wasn't it his second boarding infraction in as many games?
IMO 5, game misconduct and a 2 game suspension is a good call.

Actually, you're right, he got a minor against the Red Wings for boarding, but I didn't see the play. It apparently didn't cause injury, and I'm assuming it wasn't that bad of a hit if it only warranted 2 minutes. But maybe someone else who saw the game can shed some more light on that incident.

Me either. But we have a better chance of seeing Neal turtle when Dorsett goes after him cuz the puss wouldn't drop the gloves when Dorsett challenged him early in the game.

I don't think anyone is afraid of Dorsett anymore, Neal exposed his glass jaw.

Watching that pirouette to the ice is worth the two game suspension.

Punishment was fair enough given the injury.

Although I couldn't help laughing out loud at Dorsett's fall.

Hope he's ok, can't wait to see retaliation.
