Stars To Name Glen Gulutzan Head Coach

Quote:
Texas Stars coach Glen Gulutzan is expected to be named the new coach of the Dallas Stars by the end of the week, multiple sources said Monday.

A contract with Gulutzan is still in the process of being finalized.

The 39-year-old will take over for Marc Crawford, who was fired by general manager Joe Nieuwendyk at the end of the season after two years behind the Dallas bench.

Never heard of him until now. Anybody got an opinion on him? Any Stars fans care to weigh in? I thought Crawford would have worked in Dallas but hey, what do I know?

Gully is a real cool dude. Got to meet him a few times when he was coachin here in Vegas. He took us to the finals once, but we were beat by a highly skilled Cyclones team. I didn't care for Gully at first because he kept trading are tough guys for soft euros, but he eventually brought in a badass team for the 08-09 season. Tim Spencer, Steve Makaway, JD Watt, and Brandon Straub would take on anyone the league had to offer. There weren't too many games that year that didn't have a tilt.

Gully was the awarded a contract next season with the Texas Stars and took them to the AHL finals his first year there in 09-10.

The guy has taken a team to the finals in every league he has coached in, so its a no brainer decision here for Dallas. Even a Finals loss is better than the crap they are putting out on the ice.

A New Jersey west? So long as they play tough I'll take it. And win of course. I just wish they would get that ownership stuff taken care off.
