Stars' Brad Richards Out Six to Eight Weeks

FRISCO, Tex. - The Dallas Stars announced today that center Brad Richards will be placed on Injured Reserve with a distal radius fracture in his right wrist, suffered in the club's 3-2 shootout win last night at Columbus. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

Richards was evaluated by Dallas' medical staff this morning and it was determined that he will not need surgery on the wrist. He will be re-evaluated in a month.

Richards, 28, has skated in 55 games this season, posting 16 goals and 32 assists for 48 points. Among team leaders, he ranks first in shots (179), second in assists and points, tied for second in power play goals (5) and third in goals.

He is aiming to be ready for playoffs, but with Richards, Morrow and Zubov all out, if Dallas doesn't make a trade, they won't make it to the playoffs.

Maybe they will replace Richards with Avery.

You just know Brett Hull has already run that by Tom Hicks a few times. Hull reminds me of Arliss Michaels. Ultimate sales sleaze in the sports worls.

At least he doesn't need surgery - thats the good news. Depending on how fast it heals, he could be back by late March, so its not all doom and gloom for the Stars. You just have to hope Dallas is still is the playoff picture by the time he's ready to come back.

Its been a tough season for the Stars when it comes to injuries. I'd feel for their fans if they weren't in the west!
