Stars Assign Niklas Grossman to Iowa

FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Niklas Grossman to the Iowa Stars, Dallas’ primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Grossman, 21, was recalled yesterday and was a healthy scratch last night in Detroit. The Stockholm, Sweden, native has appeared in 20 games with the Iowa Stars this season, registering two goals and one assist for three points with a team-leading +9 rating and 16 penalty minutes. He appeared in three preseason games with the Stars during their 2006 exhibition schedule.

The 6-3, 206-pound defenseman played in his first professional season with Iowa last season, collecting five points (2-3-5) with 49 penalty minutes in 61 games. Dallas second round selection (56th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Grossman served as the captain for Team Sweden at the 2005 World Junior Championships.
