FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has activated defenseman Trevor Daley from the injured reserve, and placed right wing Antti Miettinen on the injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 30 with a lower body injury.

Daley, 23, was placed on injured reserve after suffering a concussion on Nov. 24 vs. Los Angeles. He has appeared in 22 games this season, posting one goal and four assists for five points with 39 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. The 5-11, 207-pound defenseman ranks fourth on the team in blocked shots (30) during his second full season with the Stars.

The native of Toronto, Ontario, has appeared in 130 career NHL games with Dallas, notching five goals and 20 assists for 25 points with 140 penalty minutes. Dallas’ second round selection (No. 43 overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft, Daley missed just one game last season with the Stars due to the flu.

Miettinen, 26, suffered a lower body injury on Nov. 30 at Washington. He has skated in 25 games for Dallas this season, notching six goals and four assists for 10 points with 14 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 190-pound right wing ranks third on the Stars in shots on goal (59), fourth in goals and tied for fifth in power play goals (2) and game-winning goals (1).

The native of Hameenlinna, Finland, appeared in his first full NHL season in 2005-06, recording 11 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 79 games played for Dallas. In 120 career NHL games, Miettinen has posted 18 goals and 26 assists for 42 points with 60 penalty minutes. He also skated in all five of Dallas’ Stanley Cup Playoff games in 2006, earning one assist.

Dallas’ seventh round selection (No. 224 overall) in the 2000 Entry Draft, Miettinen was named the Finnish Elite League Player of the Year in 2002-03 with HPK Hameenlinna. He skated for Team Finland at the 2003 World Junior Championships and was selected to represent his country at the 2006 Winter Olympics, but had to withdraw due to injury.
