Stars Acquire Ladislav Nagy
FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has acquired left wing Ladislav Nagy (NA-gee) from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist and a first round selection in 2007.
"Ladislav brings speed and skill to our hockey club and has proven to be a top-six NHL forward over his career," said Armstrong. "We look for him to come in and make an immediate impact on our roster." Nagy, 27, has appeared in 55 games this season with Phoenix, tallying eight goals and 33 assists for 41 points with 48 penalty minutes, good for the team lead in assists and points. Last season with the Coyotes, he played in only 51 games (missing the final 29 games due to knee injury), but collected 15 goals and 41 assists for 56 points. Despite missing 31 total games, he still ranked first on the club in assists, third in points and second in plus/minus (+8). Over his NHL career with St. Louis (1999-01) and Phoenix (2001-07), Nagy has appeared in 372 games and recorded 102 goals and 169 assists for 271 points. He has been nearly a "point-a-game-player" since 2003-04, notching 149 points (47-102-149) in 161 games over the past three seasons. St. Louis' seventh round selection (177th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Nagy appeared in parts of two seasons with the Blues prior to being traded to Phoenix. On March 13, 2001, the native of Saca, Slovakia, was traded to Phoenix with Michal Handzus, Jeff Taffe and a first round pick in 2002 in exchange for Keith Tkachuk. Over his five full-seasons with the Coyotes, he posted a +40 rating. Last edited by Thrillhouse; 02-12-2007 at 11:50 AM. |

Kinda shocked by this... the Stars dont need any "helper" types. They need guys that can finish off the play, and put the puck in the net.
Regardless, the Yotes needed to get rid of someone, and I didnt think they were going to give up Shane Doan. |

Man...that came out of nowhere. Too bad we couldn't get Laraque as a throw in.

Not a bad addition to the Dallas offense. They could use a sniper like Nagy if he comes to play.

Great pickup for the Stars. Nagy is a good player, and he's still pretty young too. He has a nice shot, and he led the Coyotes in goals this season, so he's no stranger to putting pucks in the back of the net. He will contribute a lot for the Stars, and now with Modano back, their offense will be really good with Nagy in there too. So, it looks like the Coyotes will start unloading, as they will be sellers this year. They aren't mathematically out of contention for the playoffs yet, but it's going to take a big push for them to make it, and the 8th seed Wild aren't slowing down right now, so the Coyotes should just gear up for next season.
