St. Louis Blues Sign Dan Hinote

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has signed free agent right winger Dan Hinote to a multi-year contract.

“Dan is a character player who brings speed and grit to our team,” said Davidson. “He’s a Stanley Cup champion who should instantly become a fan favorite.”

Hinote, 29, has played in 353 National Hockey League games during his six-year career with Colorado, recording 65 points (27 goals, 38 assists) and 254 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 190-pound forward appeared in all 23 postseason games for the Avalanche in 2000-01 and helped capture the Stanley Cup. The Leesburg, Florida native was originally drafted by Colorado in the seventh round, 167th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

I`d be very angry right now if I wasn`t drunk at the moment. What the hell is our new GM thinking...

One of the most popular Avalanche players of all time is now gone. Why ( I guess we have to make room for Jim Dowd)

Is there no loyalty left in the NHL?

Of all the players to let go of in Colorado, they let go of Dan Hinote? I cant express how disgusted I am in words.

Dayum! Colorado is rivaling Chicago for the worst offseasons in the history of the sport! First Tanguay, then Blake, now Hinote...unbelievable what this new GM is doing.

I wonder if the club told Joe Sakic they were planning on imploding the team when they offered him his contract? My guess is no and he is probably pretty p*ssed off right now. Dan Hinote, Rob Blake and Alex Tanguay....OUCH. Wonder what team Sakic will be going to at the deadline?

Their either trading off all the AVS best players or just not resigning them but either way we can kiss the playoffs goodbye for sure next season !!

i don't think joe sakic's and jose theodore's contracts took up that much cap room. the avs should sign bill guerin because the losses of blake and tanguay really hurt them.

Colorado is really having one bad offseason. There will be a lot of responsibilities resting on Sakic, Hejduk, Svatos and Theodore's shoulders this coming season.

Great pick up for Blues

J.D is already making his mark as the new Pres. He is a great hockey mind and the Blues will benefit greatly . He loves character guys and Danny certainly is that.
