Sharks Sign Scott Gomez to One-Year Contract

He is one of the greedy bastards of the NHLPA that worried about not getting enough money and has (from what I understand):

earned 47,7 millions (this season included) from 2007-2008, that's an average of 9,4 millions a year for exactly 47 points a year.

This year he'll earn 5,5 millions from the Canadiens and 700.000 from the Sharks.

He was/is a third line player getting first line money. Now his pay grade is closer to his current skill level. I think he can be effective in the right role and the Sharks style of play might be a good fit. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. At $700 large whats to lose?

If Scott Gomez is on your 4th line then that line is not accomplishing the purpose of a 4th line.

700k or what is almost a minimum wage for Gomez for 1 year? I think its worth a try. At worst, he is ineffective and the Sharks dont resign him. If he does well, it was a good buy for a year. Gomez has something to prove so the effort should be there.
