He was/is a third line player getting first line money. Now his pay grade is closer to his current skill level. I think he can be effective in the right role and the Sharks style of play might be a good fit. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. At $700 large whats to lose?

700k or what is almost a minimum wage for Gomez for 1 year? I think its worth a try. At worst, he is ineffective and the Sharks dont resign him. If he does well, it was a good buy for a year. Gomez has something to prove so the effort should be there.
