Sharks Sign Scott Gomez to One-Year Contract
SAN JOSE, California -- San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed unrestricted free agent center Scott Gomez to a one-year deal. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gomez has represented the United States of America in several international tournaments including: 2006 Olympics, 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 1998 and 1999 World Junior Championships. The five-foot-eleven, 200-pound native of Anchorage, Alaska was originally selected by New Jersey in the first round (27th overall) of the 1998 NHL Draft. |
So Gomez gets money from his buyout plus this contract? Cha-ching. Kennedy was a young player and when the Sabres didn't like arbitration ruling they got rid of him. Many fans didn't like that. Hope a team pick him up. Good guy.

Good. Gomez can go stink up the western conference.
After the Sharks scored 6 goals in the first period on the Oilers last night, the Oil are now breathing a sigh of relief that somebody who cant' score might be dressed for the sharks next game
you can make all the jokes you want on scott gomez hes still a bargain for the sharks at 700 000 $ per yr
Send him down to Worcester just so I can heckle the **** outta his ass :)
At least it's Kennedy on waivers and not McLaren.
Unlike Wade Redden, this duster isn't even worth his new contract.
Can't you just feel the love?
i dont like the idea of bringing him in on this kind of year.

I don't get what the Sharks are doing. They once had a good thing going, but in recent years they are just trading and acquiring players that don't make sense and they are not moving forward. They are getting older and they keep doing nothing to improve.
Just to make it clear: since 2009 they traded Christian Ehrhoff for nothing (ever heard of Patrick White and Daniel Rahimi ?) to the Canucks traded Milan Michalek and Cheechoo for Heatley they signed a useless Roenick and washed up Lemieux they traded Devin Setoguchi and 2 1st round draft picks for Brent Burns they traded away Heatley again for Martin Havlat they signed Anttero Niittymaki they signed James Sheppard now signing Scott Gomez doesn't make sense to me either... |
scott gomez can still be an effective player, just don think that he is the answer to your scoring woes. at best a 3rd line/special teams player. i think his agent is pretty good though. got him that deal and shet
