Sharks Re-Sign Frazer McLaren to One-Year Contract

SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has re-signed forward Frazer McLaren to a one-year contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In 2011-12, McLaren played seven games for San Jose, posting nine penalty minutes. In 20 games with Worcester, he logged one assist and 73 penalty minutes. He is currently the all-time leader in Worcester Sharks history with 490 penalty minutes and 47 fighting majors.

In 39 career NHL games McLaren has posted six points (one goal, five assists), a plus-five rating, and 85 penalty minutes.

The six-foot-five, 250-pound native of Winnipeg, MB was selected in the seventh round (203rd overall) by San Jose in the 2007 NHL Draft.

Man, is Worcester gonna be tough. :bored:

Nice, hope he stays healthy and sees some games up in da sho', as it were. Man it would've been great if Winnipeg had snagged a hometown boy on board as Thorburn ain't much in the way of toughness with that big softie Glass gone to boot -

With Winchester gone he might finally make it to the big show to stay!

McLaren should be up in the NHL full time now. He isn't a bad player and can certainly play in a limited 4th line role.

i think he'll be up more often , with all the signings in the west.

With Winchester and Vandermeer as UFA's, and unlikely return, McLaren could get the full time gig next season.

I hope he gets a little meaner and looks for fights. That can help him stay on the club. No Winnik, Winchester, Vandermeer or mitchell. I think Mclarewn might see 10 more games than he did last year. maybe 15.

He had a great 4-fight series with Justin Johnson last year, the first of the four Johnson forced the issue with an unwilling McLaren and popped him a couple times before the fire lit under Frazer's ass. Probably the best of the bunch was the last one, he definately fights better when angry, would like to see him enforce more and play with that edge against everyone.

Nicolas Deslauriers & Justin Johnson vs...

ThrowdownSJ408 07-07-2012 04:45 PM

Justin Johnson was on a mean streak last year. He had a pretty good year.

The team of Worcester had a really nice year with toughness unlike the NHL Sharks who seemed to have gotten softer losing Shelley, Staubitz, nichol, Mclaren ect

Yeah, well, giving Vandermeer 20 games all year long and playing a guy like Colin White 55 games at his place is a shame.

oh yeah shoot i forgot Vandermeer! I liked him a lot. They really gave him the shaft. I do not know what was with that. Paid him 1 million also. I really like what Jimmy brought but Sharks struggled last year compared to others. White did not do that well either. Vandermeer knew when to fight. I was at the game when he fought Boll twice it was really fun. Sharks were really soft all year it was a drag.

That and he needs to stop TURNING HIS HEAD AWAY AND DUCKING DOWN AND RUNNING AWAY!!! Learn to fight keep your eyes on your opponent and chin tucked. And like you said fight mean fight to win not to just fight. He needs to win a fight against a heavy and get some confidence. I can see him as a geroge parros type game can skate a reg shift and wins more than 50% of his fights. If he changes his style and fight tactics... At least we gotta heavy and thank you for that :)

He was doing a great job in Worcester,it sucks to lose him...but we still got plenty of toughness
