Senators Send Campoli to Chicago
OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has acquired centre Ryan Potulny and a second-round draft pick in the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenceman Chris Campoli and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2012. The Blackhawks have the option to choose which of their second-round draft choices will go to Ottawa.
Potulny, 26, has recorded 18 goals and 23 assists in 58 games with the Blackhawks’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs this season. He has been held scoreless in three NHL games with Chicago this season. A native of Grand Forks, N.D., Potulny has recorded 22 goals, 22 assists and 54 penalty minutes in 119 career NHL games with Chicago, the Edmonton Oilers and the Philadelphia Flyers. He was originally drafted by the Flyers in the third round (87th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Potulny was traded from the Flyers to the Oilers on June 6, 2008, in exchange for Danny Syvret. He signed a one-year contract with the Blackhawks on Sept. 8, 2010. Campoli, 26, is in his seventh season in the NHL and third with the Senators. He has three goals, 11 assists and 34 penalty minutes while appearing in 58 games to date this season. Campoli has played 378 career NHL games, registering 32 goals, 96 assists and 128 penalty minutes. Originally selected in the seventh round, 227th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, Campoli was acquired by the Senators on Feb. 20, 2009, along with forward Mike Comrie in exchange for forward Dean McAmmond and the San Jose Sharks’ 2009 first-round draft pick, which Ottawa obtained from the Tampa Bay Lightning in August 2008. He was re-signed by the Senators to a one-year contract on July 30, 2010. Last edited by Thrillhouse; 02-28-2011 at 03:12 PM. |

Campoli is pretty under-rated I think. He's small, but moves the puck pretty well and is smart in his own zone.

Lets get Neil, cmon Bowman. If we dont make the playoffs,at least we win some fights. Just to have a fight would be something. Terribly weak in Chicago.

I hate this. Campoli is the same as Hjalmarsson as far as I'm concerned, useless. Where is the physical Dman Bowman kept saying he wanted? I'm really almost over the Blackhawks, the damage that has been done over the last couple of years with stupid ****ing contracts put us in this position where we go after a guy like Campoli at the trade deadline and are on the verge of not making the playoffs. Great, we got the cup but now we won't see it again for another 10 years at least.
If Campbell gets hit by a bus, does Chicago still have to pay out his contract? |
