Senators Recall Mike Brodeur On Emergency Basis

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled goaltender Mike Brodeur on an emergency basis from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Brodeur, 26, has appeared in 15 of 20 games this season with Binghamton, posting a 5-4-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.92 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.

The 6-2, 190-pound Brodeur was recently selected as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 8, turning aside 94-of-96 shots in three appearances (2-1-0) that week while recording a 0.67 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

The Calgary native is in his first season with the B-Sens after posting an 18-13-4 record with a 2.45 goals-against average in 38 AHL games with the Rochester Americans in 2008-09. Brodeur also played in eight games for the ECHL’s Augusta Lynx last season, posting a 2-4-1 record with a 3.02 goals-against average and .919 save-percentage.

Currently in his sixth professional season, Brodeur was selected in the seventh round (211th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. On Feb. 17, 2008, Brodeur was recalled to the NHL by Chicago for one day, but did not see any game action.

Man, Leclaire is totally cursed when it comes to injuries. Strictly speaking of his issues related to his time with the Senators:

His D man clears an opposing forward out of the blue paint and directly onto his head, crumpling his body in an awkward way, and everyone expects that he has re-injured his gimpy ankle, but miraculously, he is okay.

Following gameday, he has dodged a bullet on what could have been a serious injury, but feels "off" in morning skate, and decides to take precautions in getting back into game action. Suited up on the bench as the backup, he takes a stray puck in the jaw.

Brodeur was considering retirement last year.

He took a shot with the Augusta Lynx before they folded..Caught a break in the AHL.

This is one of those feel good stories...I wish Brodie nothing but luck
