Senators Recall Daugavins; Re-Assign St. Pierre to Binghamton

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled forward Kaspars Daugavins and re-assigned Martin St. Pierre to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Daugavins has scored 11 goals, added 10 assists and has five multi-point games in 37 games with the B-Sens, and was named to Team Latvia on Dec. 29 for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. This is his first career call-up with the Senators and NHL.

In four seasons split between Binghamton and Ontario Hockey League’s St. Michael’s Majors, he has 17 career AHL goals, 12 assists and 24 penalty minutes over 73 games. The 6-0, 205-pound native of Riga, Latvia, was Ottawa’s second third-round selection (91st overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

St. Pierre was called up for the first time this season on Jan. 8. He played in Ottawa’s last three games and was held scoreless, averaging 9:37 in time-on-ice per game.

The 26-year old has scored 14 goals and added 21 assists for a team-leading 35 points in 34 games with the B-Sens. St. Pierre was recently named to the Canadian all-star team for the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic to be played on Jan. 19.
