Senators Recall Brad Norton
OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators today recalled defenceman Brad Norton from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, on an emergency basis to replace Wade Redden, who will be absent for personal reasons. This is Norton’s first call-up to the Ottawa Senators.
Norton, who signed a two-way NHL contract with Ottawa on March 8, joined Binghamton on Dec. 20 after being claimed off waivers from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). The 31-year-old, who signed a contract with Grand Rapids to return to the AHL, started the season with Jokerit Helsinki in Finland, recording two goals, two assists and 93 penalty minutes in 20 games. In 32 games this season with Binghamton, Norton has four assists and 100 penalty minutes. He has missed the last four games from March 18 to 24 due to the flu. In 111 career NHL games over three seasons with Florida, Los Angeles and Washington, the defenceman accumulated 10 points (three goals, seven assists) and 236 penalty minutes. he did good in the enforcing department in his first year with the Kings. during his second season, he cut his wrist in the preseason. he only played a handful of games and didn't fight too much. if you ask me, he probably shouldn't have fought that season due to his wrist injury, it looked like it hurt him during his fight with Burnett. his play was very strong though! he's a big defenseman who will clear the net and take the ody whenever the opportunity presets itself. all in all, i'd say he's a better than average player for a big guy and it sucks the Kings didn't feel the same.

Thank goodness. It's been a long time since I've seen Norton do a fake glove drop to draw a "smart" penalty.
He fought to get back to the league, if he gets comfortable, he'll stop AGAIN, just like the last time he came up.

I always liked Norton. He would always stick up for his team whenever needed. He seemed pretty solid on D as far as I can recall. I remember he would fight a lot more before he got his arm run over by a skate and it severed his tendons. IMO I dont know why the kings let him go, he is a big strong D-man who can throw em with anybody in the league
