The more I watch it, the more I think it isn't that bad from Cooke. Just a freak play.

Initially thought it was a failed slew foot, but, doesn't look like there is much intent to kick out the skate. The more and more I watch it, it looks like Cooke went to get his leg up and drive Karlsson into the boards harder, and that's it. Happens quite a bit along the wall, especially when coming in on the side like Cooke was.

Either way, huge loss for the Sens. I am happy with Chris Neil mugging Cooke later in the game. Regardless of intent, Neil did what he should do when a star player, especially one like Karlsson, gets taken out and it's borderline from a dirty player.

This is a brutal loss for the Sens, and probably the final nail in their coffin for this season. I can't believe Erik Karlsson got back to his feet with a laceration of the achilles! Hopefully it was a clean cut that could be easily repaired. This kind of injury has cost careers before.

As far as the hit, I think Cooke was trying to get position to pin him along the boards, but it was a careless play on his part. There's no reason for your skates to come up off the ice. I can't see how it would be intententional though, as it happened so fast, and he wasn't looking down when he did it. Either way you can never give that guy the benefit of the doubt. When you are constantly involved in stupid actions, you don't deserve to be given any leeway on borderline or questionable plays. He has made his career out of being a gutless agitator, and a filthy player. I really hope his career is ended with an injury.

It doesn't matter if it's intentional or not, someone has to punch him, which Neil tried to do last night, but could have done it with more force. Never trust Cooke's motives.

Crap like that follows a player, wether he intended to do it or not.

Hope Eric Gryba gets the chance he deserves now..

Your probably right. A wicked nasty injury but I could'nt see any intent at all. A freak hockey play with an unfortunate ending. Feel bad for the kid. Everybody ripping Cooke but I see no intent at all. Oh well.

Wasn't intentional, just an unfortunate accident. Cooke is known for being a dirt bag but I don't think anyone wants to injure another player with a skate blade.

Never though I'd defend Cooke but this particular play doesn't even warrant a discussion. I can just hear Pierre Fackkin McGuire calling for the removal of blades due to safety issues.

i think Cooke knew what he was doing. what was the purpose of his skate coming up? who goes into a check doing that? (Cooke does)
