Senators Assign Emery to Binghamton for Conditioning Stint
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today announced they have assigned goaltender Ray Emery to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, for a two-game conditioning stint.
Emery, who had only seen action in one pre-season game on Sept. 25 vs. Philadelphia, will start for the B-Sens this Friday (Oct. 12) when they host the Syracuse Crunch at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. He is also slated to start when Binghamton continues its homestand with a Saturday (Oct. 13) meeting against the Hershey Bears. Emery recorded the win in his lone pre-season NHL start against the Flyers. He allowed two goals on nine shots in 40 minutes of play as Ottawa downed Philadelphia 4-2, en route to its perfect 7-0-0- pre-season record. The 25-year-old has seen limited practice time and no regular-season action with Ottawa due to rehab from surgery to his left wrist. The Binghamton Senators opened their 2007-08 regular season with a 3-1 loss to Albany on Oct. 6 and are 0-1-0-0. Emery spent three seasons with the B-Sens from 2002-03 to 2004-05, compiling a 76-58-18 record in 154 career AHL games. He was named the club’s most valuable player for the 2002-03 season, going 27-17-6 with a 2.42 goals-against-average in 50 games. |

Be interesting to see what the Sens do when he is ready to go. They could be 5 or 6 and under Gerber at that point. Decisions, decisions.

Good. Good. Let's get him healthy and sharp, so the Sens can make another run at the cup. I was an Emery doubter last year, but he proved to me that he could really step up his game for the playoffs. The guy just needs to remember that he's a goalie first, and a mit-dropper second
