Senators Acquire Martin Lapointe
The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Martin Lapointe to the Ottawa Senators for a sixth-round draft pick.

Lapointe signed a three-year, $7.2 million deal with the Blackhawks shortly after the lockout ended in the summer of 2005.

Lapointe, 34, has appeared in 973 NHL games, recording 178 goals, 375 points and 1394 penalty minutes while playing for the Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins.

Lapointe will add additional grit to the Senators, who traded for Mike Commodore on Feb 11th.

I didnt know Martin Lapoint was still playing?!?!

well, I dont know how much of a help he'll be in Ottawa but hey they must have something in mind for him.

He has been a healthy scratch something like 4 or 5 in a row now.

Decent pickup to replace Chris Neil, who's shelved with a bad knee. For $2.4 million though, its kind of a pricey move.
