Scott Fletcher to attend Bruins' camp

Boston released their camp schedule/lineup today, and Scott Fletcher has been invited. I've seen some vids, seems like a decent fighter...can he actually play D? Just wondering if he has a shot in Providence or if he's still a couple years away. Thanks.

Fletcher is a solid player, and a very reliable D man. He's not known for his scoring abilities, he is more of a defensive defencemen than anything else. His bread and butter though is playing a rough and tumble type of game. The one I can tell you is Fletcher is tough as nails and a damn good fighter. He's a top 5 scrapper for sure at the OHL level. Apart from being a great fighter he is also a devastating body checker, and has his fair share of highlite reel hits. Bottom line is he can do it all when it comes to the physical aspect of the game.

I'm not sure what Providence looks like at the back end, or even if they have room for Fletcher. But if the coaching staff is looking to add a physical presence to the lineup, Fletch could be a good fit. The way his game has developed over the last few years, I wouldn't be surprised if he made the team. Depending on what kind of camp he has it's certainly a possibility.

He's not the next Steve MacIntyre, but it's a good start for the baby Bruins.

knew scott pretty good when he played here in saginaw. his first year here, he was at my fathers house (he is a billet for spirit players) and he and i sat at the computer and went over who was the tough guys on the other teams. he wanted to know who he needed to go after. loves to fight this kid, and he is damn good at it too. had a few problems off the ice here in saginaw, which ultimately led to him leaving and it was a damn shame. funny kid, very likable and is sure to be a fan favorite wherever he winds up.

What would you classify Fletcher as? HW? MW? LHW?

as far as the ohl goes, he is a heavyweight. he takes on all the big name guys and does pretty good. now will that translate to heavyweight in the nhl or even the ahl? that cant be determined until he gets the chance to fight some of the upper tier guys. keep watch for updates with the bruins. believe me, this kid will try to fight anyone he can to earn himself a name.
