San Jose Acquires Daniel Winnik and T.J. Galiardi
SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired forwards T.J. Galiardi and Daniel Winnik, along with a seventh round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (previously acquired from Anaheim) from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forwards Jamie McGinn, Mike Connolly and Michael Sgarbossa.
Galiardi has posted 14 points (eight goals, six assists) and 47 penalty minutes in 55 games this season. The six-foot-two, 190-pound forward was a second round selection of the Avalanche in 2007 (55th overall). Currently in his third full NHL season, Galiardi has 72 points (33 goals, 39 assists) and 93 penalty minutes in 171 games – all with Colorado. Winnik has 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) and 42 penalty minutes in 63 games. He has played every Avalanche game this season and is second on the team in shots with 155. Originally selected by Phoenix in ninth round (265th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Toronto has notched 96 points (34 goals, 62 assists) and 177 penalty minutes in 345 NHL games. “We feel that T.J. and Daniel bring some additional size, speed, and penalty killing ability to our existing group of forwards,” said Wilson. McGinn has played in 204 games, all with San Jose and has 49 points (27 goals, 22 assists) and 99 penalty minutes. He was originally selected by the Sharks in the second round (36th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Connolly was signed as a free agent by the Sharks on April 14, 2011. He is currently in his first professional season with Worcester, where he has 30 points (ten goals, 20 assists) in 40 games. Sgarbossa, signed as a free agent on Sept. 21, 2010, is currently playing with Sudbury of the Ontario Hockey League. Last edited by Thrillhouse; 02-27-2012 at 04:19 PM. |

I agree with all of you. Bad trade for the Sharks. McGinn would beat Winnik 9/10 times in a fight. IMO
Seems like a panic move.
