Sabres just got their tough guy! HAHA! Hope he fairs well against Gillies, Booggard, Shelly, Leblond, Thorton, etc.

I always liked Conboy. Tough, gritty player with a mean streak and a certain level of cheapness or dirtyness to his game that did whatever he possibly could to help his team. Some of the best hockey this team has played post-lockout was at the end of the 2007-2008 season with him and Wade Brookbank in the lineup. He was the captain in Albany last year and for good reason; always willing to stand up for a teammate and never met too many fights he didn't like, at the NHL level anyway. To wit: he fought big John Scott in Minnesota last year because his family was getting to see him play for the first time in a while. True, he's not the best at it, but willingness goes a long way for me.
With all that being said, I would think he would still be behind Cody McCormick on their "toughness depth chart" so I wouldn't think the chances of seeing him in Buffalo would be too high. |

Funny that he's now on the same team as that little punk Gerbe whom he rightfully jumped a couple years ago:

Why the hell would you sign him over a Heavy weight of any kind...I've looked into Conboy's vid's and he sux at fighting, but looks like he's good at starting line brawls...I'd rather see Cody up with the Sabres then him..but knowing this team both will be pirates
