Sabres Sign John Scott to One-Year Contract Extension

BUFFALO, N.Y. --- Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced that the team has signed forward John Scott to a one-year contract extension.

Scott (6’8”, 270 lbs., 9/26/82) played in 34 games with the Sabres in the 2012-13 season after signing with the club as a free agent on July 1, 2012.

Prior to the Sabres, Scott split the 2011-12 season between the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers, tallying one assist and 53 penalty minutes in 35 games. In five NHL seasons, the native of Edmonton, Alberta has appeared in 180 career games with the Sabres, Rangers, Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild, recording five points (1+4) and 305 penalty minutes.

Good deal for both. Policeman who might get a point or 2.

Nice! Sure, I would love to see Scott more active in the fight department, but the Sabres did not get bullied this year with him dressed. At the end of the season he had a few games with over 10 mins ice time.

Good for him and us. The league is more fun with him in it despite all the haters.

And Boston fans just shat their pants. :)

Not this Boston fan... Anyways good for Scott and the Sabres. Will be interesting to see how many games he dresses next year with an 82 game schedule, and the new re alignment.

bet it'll be more than boulton who everybody was so happy to see re-signed...boulton played in not even 1/3 of the isles games this season while scott played in over 2/3 of the sabres games.

And in related news, Shawn Thornton just finished filling out his retirement papers. Reason "IBS caused by John Scott's resigning".

C'mon man, nothing against Scott, but im sure he'd love to be in Thorntons position right now. Yea, Thornton got pounded by Scott, not sure why we all need to be reminded of it.

Exactly.. Carcillo has beaten Scott and he's not considered a world killer. Probert even lost to Chris freaking Tamer.

Shít happens.

And Scott is 6'8". He should be beating Thornton anyway.

Because it was funny watching the Bruins fans gloat about how tough they are and then watched their tough guy get destroyed by a team they bullied the last few years.

John Scott's beating he laid on Thornton is the defining moment of his career. He was brought in pretty much to counter the Bruins. He did that. Got rewarded for it.

I'm not doubting you, but when did Carcillo beat Scott?
