Sabres Sign Jimmy Bonneau

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed unrestricted free agent LW Jimmy Bonneau.

Bonneau (3/22/1985, 6’3”, 220 lbs.) split last season between Hamilton (AHL) and Cincinnati (ECHL), picking up five points (1+4) and 66 PIMs in 24 combined games.

Bonneau played junior hockey with Montreal and PEI (QMJHL) from 2002-05, finishing with 47 points (19+28) and 758 PIMs in 205 games.

A native of Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Bonneau was originally selected by Montreal in the eighth round (241st overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft.

Hopefully he'll actually get some playing time with Portland. First time that Buffalo's AHL team will have a heavy since McMorrow left.

This is most likely for Portland, and that'll be good for them to have a HW.

I saw the majority of this guy's fights, even have some PEI Rocket stuff that wasn't released to the public, and he was a killer in Juniors. One of the best I've ever seen. The problem is that he hasn't been able to translate that into professional success.

One of the things I've always noticed about Bonneau is that he just isn't physically developed enough to compete as an elite enforcer. He was never a "big" guy and didn't spend alot of time in the gym. He needs to put on some muscle, bulk up with another 20 lbs or so and have a better work ethic. If he does those things, I think he could be one of the best in the AHL. Possibly get a shot with a team in the NHL.

Very nice guy though - if you go to the dropyourgloves.com website, you can see a bunch of reviews that I've done of his fights from Juniors. He was a MONSTER. Good luck Jimmy.

No, that was jon Tremblay. Cormier got beat by Cody Doucette in his 18yo season.

He's in the Phoenix system and player with Arizona in the CHL last year (where he was voted best fighter). He may get a shot with San Antonio.

He's had some good fights against Colt King and David Victor. His most decisive victory came against Jeff Hansen, who's considered one of the tougher fighters in the lower minor leagues.

That Is Conrad Martin Vs. Victor Not Jimmy Bonneau Vs. Victor
This Is A Great Loss To The Cincinnati Cyclones Losing Jimmy Bonneau He Always Stood Up For His Goalies And For His Teammates That Could Not Stick Up For Themselves Because Of Their Size. I Wish Jimmy Bonneau The Best With The Buffalo Sabres Organization Hopefully He Makes It To The NHL. Good Luck Jimmy "SOULJA BOY" Bonneau 2007-2008 KELLY CUP CHAMPIONS YOUR CINCINNATI CYCLONES. YOU WILL BE MISSED

What are the chances San Antonio might play the season with Cormier and Francis Lessard?

And what's Adam Keefe's status? RFA? UFA?
