Sabres Re-Sign Patrick Kaleta

BUFFALO, N.Y. --- Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced the team has agreed to terms with forward Patrick Kaleta on a new, multi-year contract.

Kaleta (6'1", 206 lbs., 6/8/86) led the team in 2011-12 with 116 PIM and led all forwards with 139 hits. Through 63 games played last season, Kaleta recorded 10 points (5+5).

A Buffalo native, Kaleta was drafted by the Sabres in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He made his first appearance with the team in the 2006-07 season and has since played in 267 games, tallying 50 points (26+24) and 434 PIM.

Awesome - good to see that.

Kaleta and Ott are going to drive the Bruins crazy...it'll be interesting.

it will drive the bruins crazy, but boston has plenty of toughness to take care of that problem and more

I havent been this excited to watch a Sabres team since the Hasek era. Ott and Kaleta will stir the pot in the toughest division with Mccormick and Scott to do the finishing touches on the crap they stir. Fun times for Sabre fans if the league dont **** it up too bad. Hoping for a Bruins/Sabres playoff match up next season.

Kaleta is just a punk, he's not going to step up and take on any of the Burin's tough guys. Maybe Kreji or something.

kaleta always has hit and always will, he will still turtle most of the time but he will still hit. Scott remains to be seen even if hes even gonna have a reg spot in the lineup

This is great news... Sabres looking to stir sh*t up in Bruins' division!

Patrick Kaleta playing in Buffalo must be good news. The league needs guys like Patrick Kaleta and Steve Ott to create something, stir sh*t up, and start/nourrish rivalries.

Buffalo is gonna be decent to watch this year. Hopefully Ott and Kaleta are on the same line.

didn't remember Patrick Kaleta and Steve Ott already fought.

Steve Ott vs Patrick Kaleta Mar 10, 2010 -...

Obviously a Kaleta VS Ott fight MUST end with punches being thrown while on the ice.

I'm not a big Kaleta fan, but he has toned down the turtling a bit. He didn't turtle against Asham, Carcillo or Dorsett. He took a thrashing from Lucic that he asked for without turtling. He's one of those guys you hate if he's not on your team. I used to feel that way about Hartnell until I saw him on 24/7.

Turtling yes, but starting sh*t and skating away from challenges? Same old story. He can throw a bit too but would rather hide behind the visor and yap his mouth. It's dishonest and I don't care what version of the NHL we're in, I don't like it and would hate it even more if he was on my team. For the record, Callahan pulled the same act a few times this year and it drove me nuts, only difference is he had a cavalry to back him up.

Pretty solid contract numbers, he definitely won't be heading back to Rochester anytime soon. The people up here absolutely love Kaleta and try telling me he's their enforcer. Best quote I've heard was at work a few weeks ago, heard someone say "he doesn't always start the fight, but he sure does finish it." I almost had to leave the room.
