Sabres Re-Sign Cody McCormick

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have re-signed unrestricted free agent forward Cody McCormick to a multi-year contract.

McCormick (6’3”, 221 lbs., 4/18/1983) is coming off his most productive NHL season, posting career highs in goals (8), assists (12), points (20) and games played (81) with the Sabres. The 28-year-old McCormick also led Buffalo with a career-best 142 PIMs, including 16 fighting majors.

McCormick has 271 games of NHL experience in parts of six seasons with Buffalo and Colorado, accumulating 50 points (17+33) and 392 PIMs.

McCormick has been with the Sabres organization for the past two seasons after signing as a free agent on August 1, 2009. He was originally selected by the Avalanche in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

What was he making his last contract? I figured he would get at least 1.5 a year. Good for Buffalo.

He's done a great job for Buffalo. Got himself back on the NHL map in the playoff series against Boston.

IMO Cody got a little overpaid. He should have gotten somewhere near 700,000 instead. I like Cody but I don't think the Sabres are tough enough and we still need to address this issue.

Sick of this Lindy Ruff/Darcy Regier nonsense. McCormick can't shoulder a team's load. Get him some support and get back get back to being the Buffalo Sabres instead of this Buffalo Gaybres crap.

Well, Its better than nothing...

I'm sure d-jaye, Jack Schitt, and Lindy are having a circle-jerk right now over this move.

He can't, but don't forget we still got Kassian in the system. That's all the toughness Ruff and Regier can stomach. Nothing is going to change until they are gone.

Troll much? Good to see you haven't lost your great sense of cutting-edge humor!

It's a good move. He's not a HW by any means , but he is a good MW.

I'd like to see Boults come bacjk, but I don't think it will happen. Him, CM and (hopefully) Kassian I'd be satisfied with.
