Sabres Re-Sign Adam Mair

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed a three-year contract with forward Adam Mair. Mair was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

“Adam is an important part of this team and we are glad to have him under contract for three more years,” said Regier. “He brings veteran leadership and a passionate physical presence to the Buffalo Sabres.”

Mair (6’1”, 209 lbs.) scored 11 points (2+9) with 128 penalty minutes in 82 games last season. He also contributed five points (1+4) while playing in all 16 of Buffalo’s games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The 28-year-old native of Hamilton, Ont., has 60 points (18+42) and 550 penalty minutes in 334 games over seven NHL seasons with the Sabres, Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Mair was acquired from Los Angeles along with a 5th-round draft choice (Thomas Morrow) in the 2003 Entry Draft in exchange for Erik Rasmussen on July 24, 2002. He was originally selected by Toronto in the 4th-round (84th overall) of the 1997 Entry Draft, after playing with Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League.

Good news. I like Mair. He's a gritty player and a pretty good middleweight.
When Peters is in the lineup then Buffalo's 4th line sure is exciting with guys like Peters, Mair, Gaustad, and Kaleta. I'm glad it will stay that way for the 07-08 season!

I'm glad they kept him. He played great in the first two rounds of the playoffs, plus he can still skate. When Peters doesn't dress, Kaleta-Goose-Mair will be hittin' everything in sight!! He's still a big hit away from retirement though.

very glad the sabres kept him, he's a good player, throws some big hits, does a good job fighting, and can make some great plays.
