Not sure what to think about this. It's not that I liked Ruff, but he sometimes was an oldtimer that used his toughness, although in the last 10 years that moments where rare, and most of the times he was a whiner about everything. Besides that I often didn't like how he handled the young guys. He let them play sometimes and then the year after he didn't give them even a chance to play in the NHL.

I'll be happy about his firing only after I see who's the new coach. Hopefully the Sabres bring in a coach that loves the rough stuff, but as long as Regier remains GM I fear the next coach will be a soft guy. IMO it's Regier that made the Sabres so soft, Ruff was just trying to keep his job and adapted.

My choice would be Bob Boughner.

Wow! Did not think this would happen until the end of the season. Lindy has sure put a lot of time in with this organization as a player and coach. He won't be unemployed long.

I wonder if they promote James Patrick to interim coach.

As a sabres fan, its kinda weird knowing that Lindy won't be behind the beench for Thursday's game.

McKenzie just tweeted that it could be Ron Rolston coming up from Rochester as the replacement

He is doing a great job down there, but has zero NHL experience. He's coached in college, the A, and assisted on the US development team.
