The Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Ruslan Fedotenko to a one-year contract through the 2009-2010 season, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero.

Fedotenko, 30, scored 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) and ranked second on the team with a plus-18 rating in 65 games with the Penguins this season. For 1.8 mil this is a steal good job Shero. Tank scored as much goals as Gomez did last season and is a hell of alot cheaper.

Still one of my fave players out there - all because of that terrific game 7 performance against the Flames in 2004. I still owe him so much for that day and will never forget it. Good for the Pens, thats a pretty good deal for him.

Tank is a playoff preformer. This is going to be one of the best deals this summer for dollar wise.
Here's my favorite Fedotenko moment from last season.

Well what was all this crap about three year deals being thrown his way??$1.8 mil for one year is a nice deal for the Pens though. He must have really been short changed if he took a one year deal instead of a three year deal if there was even one out there...

Someone mentioned it already, but Ruslan will always have a place in my hockey heart for the 2 biggest goals in Tampa bay Lightning history.

Could be that it was his decision. As opposed to Hossa, he actually stayed with the team that has a shot at repeating, something he wouldn't necessarily get with another club. Also he may be thinking that after this upcoming season he wants to go home, or i could be talking out of my ass altogether. Only Ruslan knows lol

I said this yesterday but my post got deleted - this is a great re-signing, at an awesome price tag! He proved without a doubt that he is money in the playoffs - scored the first goal that got the Pens going in Game 6 against the Flyers, scored 2 huge goals in Games 3 and 5 against the Caps, and had the opening goal against the Canes in Game 1 or 2, can't remember which one. He said he really didn't get any great offers from any of the other teams, and that was why he took the Pens' offer. Doesn't hurt that he has a chance to win another Cup either.
