Still a young guy, and with the way the league is hopefully turning, it doesnt seem like a good time for him to hang'em up.
I hope this isnt true...

I really hope this isn't true, he still has the fight in him. He had 5 majors last year at the beginning with the Hawks and it's a shame that no one could pick him up. Hopefully he can find a spot with an AHL team to keep playing.

Like CC28 said, it could very well be true. Low isn't in any camps, and it seems like he's having a hard time trying to get signed. I don't know why, but no team really wants him. It's possible that he could just decide to hang 'em up.
I really hope he doesn't retire though. In my opinion, Reed Low was one of the top heavyweights in the league a couple years ago while he was in St. Louis, and he could very well earn that title again - if only a team would give him a chance. It's too bad Chicago kept him in the AHL almost the whole time he was with that organization.... Low has beaten some great fighters in the past. This guy is a warrior, and I would love for him to get signed by a team that's looking for a heavyweight (or at least some more toughness). A good fighter like this deserves a job in the NHL. It would be a shame if he doesn't get signed.

I heard Chris Kerber who is the Radio voice of the Blues refer to him as an Alumni the other day, He would probably be close enough to know. Sadly I think Low has retired.

Talked to Reed Low this morning through email, and he has retired:

Another one of my favs retires. I hold him in the same regard as Ewen, Chase and Twist. Did'nt have a heavy punch but could throw'em. His fight with P.J. Stock is one of my all-time favorites.

Disappointing news. Reed Low has still got plenty of fight left in 'em! He had a solid victory over Boogaard in the Preseason last year before he got the shaft by Chicago. Its a shame that no one went after this guy. That fight with PJ Stock was a classic!

Yeah, I'd throw Kimble in there too. Maybe if the Family Arena in St.Charles ever get's a minor team as a tennant, Low might pull a Kimble and play there since i think still lives in the St.Louis area.
