COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Red Wings announced that goalie Tom McCollum has been recalled from the
Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.
He has appeared in 17 games for Grand Rapids this season, posting a 10-6-1 record with a 2.69 goals against average, .899 save percentage and one shutout. McCollum kicked aside all 20 shots he faced in a 3-0 win over the
Chicago Wolves on Dec. 7, 2012, to register his lone shutout of the season.
McCollum was called up to the 23-man roster when the Red Wings placed forward Jan Mursak on injured reserve. Mursak suffered a shoulder injury during the first period of Saturday’s 6-0 season-opening loss to the
St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center. The 5-foot-11 and 190-pound right wing from Maribor, Slovenia, is expected to miss a minimum of two weeks, but will be re-examined by team officials later this week when the Red Wings return to Detroit.
