Red Wings Brad May to possibly miss games with "hyphema"

Quote:
CALGARY, Alberta -- Red Wings forward Brad May remained overnight in Calgary for observation after suffering hyphema, or blood in the right eye, when he was hit by a teammate’s stick during the Wings’ 3-1 victory Saturday at Calgary.

Trainer Piet Van Zant said this morning that May “will be fine, he may just need to be out for a bit.” May was to fly to Toronto today, an off day for the Wings, to see his family.

Van Zant said May is scheduled to be re-evaluated Monday in Detroit. Van Zant said it’s unlikely May will need to – or want to – start wearing a visor for protection.

The incident occurred in the third period, when Jason Williams accidentally high-sticked May while on the bench.

Sucks this might hinder him from dropping the gloves. ****in Jason Williams I swear does more harm than good everytime he is on the ice.

That blows... hopefully he'll be back to 100% sooner than later. This is quality May time with both Filppula and Franzen out for a long time.

Can't we just get him an eye patch? It would look totally bad ass.

This sucks for him. I have had something similar to this before and he will be out a couple weeks or so. I was not even allowed to bend over and tie my shoes for a week let alone go through normal activities. I had a microhyphema which is behind the anterior chamber of the eye and his is in front of. I don't know if that will make it less time for him but I doubt it.

Any other team in the league and I would believe this story. Because it's Detroit though I feel compelled to replace, "Jason Williams accidentally high-sticked May while on the bench" with, Jason Williams accidently ejaculated in May's eye in the shower while aiming for Zetterberg.

May was very lucky. He escaped a potentially career ending serious injury. Not from a fight, or while during the play on the ice, but while sitting on the bench?! Get back soon and 100%.
