Rangers Sign Adam Hall

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has signed restricted free agent right wing Adam Hall.

Hall, 25, was acquired by the Rangers on July 19 from the Nashville Predators in exchange for center Dominic Moore. In 75 games with the Nashville Predators last season, he registered 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points, along with 40 penalty minutes. While establishing career-highs in assists (15), points (29), power play goals (10) and penalty minutes (40), Hall tied for second on the Predators in game-winning goals (five) and tied for third on the team in power play goals (10) during the regular season. In the postseason, he collected one goal in five games.

In 2004-05, he captured the Mestis (Finland) Championship with KalPa Kuopio. In 36 games with the Finnish club, Hall collected 23 goals and 17 assists for 40 points, along with 28 penalty minutes. Among league leaders, he tied for second in goals (23), tied for fourth in scoring with 40 points and ranked 11th in plus/minus (plus-22).

The 6-3, 210-pound forward has skated in 234 career NHL contests, all with Nashville, recording 43 goals and 42 assists for 85 points, along with 108 penalty minutes. In 11 career postseason contests with the Predators, Hall has picked up three goals and one assist, along with two penalty minutes.

In 2002-03, he led all NHL rookies in power play goals (eight) and ranked third in power play points (12) during the regular season. His 16 goals ranked fifth, while his 28 points placed ninth among all NHL rookies that season. During the 2004 playoffs, he tied for the team lead in goals (two) and points (three) and was tied for second on the club in plus/minus (plus-three) and shots on goal (13).

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Hall appeared in 159 games with the Michigan State Spartans of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), registering 79 goals and 47 assists for 126 points, along with 190 penalty minutes. While serving as captain of the Spartans in his final season, Hall led the team in goals (19) and power play goals (nine) and finished second on the squad in points (34). His nine power play goals also tied for first in the CCHA. In 1999-00, he led the conference in goals with 26 and ranked second nationally in game-winning goals with six.

After his freshman season in 1998-99, Hall was tabbed a finalist for CCHA Rookie of the Year, was selected to the 1999 NCAA West Regional All-Tournament Team and was named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team.

In addition, Hall has represented the United States in several international tournaments, including four World Championships (2006, 2005, 2004, 2003) and two World Junior Championships (2000, 1999). In the 2004 World Championships in the Czech Republic, he registered two assists in nine games and helped his country capture a bronze medal.

A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Hall was originally drafted by Nashville in the second round, 52nd overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
